though the iconic imagery of disco feels distinctly tied to the united states, the style had a wide-reaching influence that made it’s way to africa. while africa was already no stranger to the pulsing rhythms of funk, afro-beat, and highlife, the rise of disco added a slick sheen to the music, with musicians from all over the continent incorporating elements of the genre into their sounds. would there ever have been a studio 54 in ghana in late 70s, these would have been the recordings that would have packed the dance floor with their deep root in disco, soul & funk! an album recorded in the late 70s packed full of legendary musicians such as harry mosco and many more… to be re-discovered 35 years after it’s initial vinyl release as a private press. a “disco documentary full of funk” proves that it stands the test of time by sounding as fresh and original as any other sought-after disco / soul funk lp from the west coast of africa in the late 70s. bbe went on another crate-digging journey and found the original producer reindorf nana oppong and the original master tapes were dusted off, transferred to digital. in the process of this, even un-released material was discovered on the tapes, which makes this a rather special package. “nana love - disco documentary full of funk” is one special journey through afro disco & boogie in the late 70s, and we at bbe can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!!!

tracking down el frijolero (nee michael brown) for an interview to mark the release of this record proved harder than initially anticipated. despite enjoying world-wide success throughout the late 90’s and early 2000s - as well as a whole slew of critically acclaimed releases – the us born producer has faded into relative obscurity after joining a religious cult in the secluded countryside of north rhine-westphalia, germany. his last confirmed sighting was from a friend six years ago, who told us that brown had left the cult after filing for insolvency. these previously unreleased remixes were found in a box of possessions in a friend’s basement. they encapsulate the unrivaled talent and technical mastery of a man whose musical career and financial euphoria came to an abrupt end. 200 copies - hand stamped

straight out of egypt via berlin comes this excellent two-tracker from the little-known son of sun. according to the press release accompanying the whispers ep, both tracks were inspired by a week sailing a yacht around the black sea. true or not (we have our doubts), there s certainly a sun-kissed laziness - despite weighty kick-drums and hissing, detroit techno style cymbals - about the woozy, dubtribe soundsystem style deep house of a-side -moonchild-. while impressive, the real killer is -whispers-, which peppers a swinging, dance mania style hip-house groove with snaking saxophones and atmospheric, spoken word vocals. it feels like a late night adriatic anthem in the making.

cromie s bubbling, spacious house sound first drew critical acclaim last year on the sold out 12- vines / pyrex (peach001), a collaboration with fellow la producer sage caswell. now, peach is thrilled to present cromies solo debut ep inner knows, a revved up set of idiosyncratic dancefloor weapons. how to stop a bulldozer, a rotating helix of synth stabs, warped vocals and low-end torque warrants it s epic title. elsewhere, flan functions like a potent concentrate of 22nd century funk. inner knows kicks off side b with a swirling late night house jam that flirts with the deeper corners of the genre. another fixture in la s electronic scene, suzanne kraft (running back, esp institute, pharoahs) closes out the record with a cubist reading of flan. on his solo debut, cromie s creative depth and attention to detail belies his freshness to the game. regular sets at las club called rhonda and various underground happenings in the sprawling southland have taught him some valuable lessons. if he can deliver this many distinct sounds on a single record, we cant wait to hear what’s next.

elbee bad the prince of dance music belong to the house music history. early producer from new york city in the late eighties (on the famous nu groove records) recently repressed on rush hour with *the true story of house music*, elbee is here alongside with some of the most talented actual producers: kiani and his legion, arttu, qlons.

classic is incredibly pleased to announce that a certain man of the moment has joined the classic family. *one* was brought to the attention of classic when it featured on vinyl only release late last year. ears pricked up and more information was sought. who was this man from nowhere - producing music that was modern yet soulful, funky - and best of all coupled with his own vocal talents. luke solomon then championed not only *one*, but the general excitement surrounding something that ticked all of his boxes. reminiscent of the old classic sound that reminded him of iz and diz, losoul and the like… seven was approached and not only offered classic *one* to re-release, but two brand new cuts featured exclusively here. an ep aptly entitled *friends* is the freshest thing that has been around for some time - and classic are proud to welcome seven into their ever expanding family.

cyber dance records are back on the attack with a fresh release from the legendary perseus traxx aka nigel rogers, a 4-track ep entitled after recent scientific developments an apparent horizon . its a firmly machine-based and totally jam-packed affair reflecting diverse sounds from the uk s own rich history of electronic dance music, with elements from the classic warp -deep space sound- prominent as much as the more usual 303-jacking acid house grooves in the vein of baby ford or bam bam. lost dreams opens the record with a floaty dream-like hipnosis from the depths of space and sets the tone in magnificent style, followed up on side a with the irresistible roll of reverse the trend that takes the groove harder, further and deeperstraight off to the beyond. dark strings reminiscent of old lfo, b-12 or autechre vinyls from the early 90s propel us into side b on darkness stalks , and then we re transported onto the concluding track on the ep, distances , an epic closer that opens with beautiful reverbed claps and acid squelches before diving into an inky black void of timeless space-travelling and slow-building tension that could surely echo hauntingly around any m25 rave in the depths of a late 1980s night.

a special dj double pack from emotional rescue brings together a collection of razormaid remixes, plus unreleased originals, of two projects from georg kajanus, the founder of 70s pop group, sailor and 80s synth poppers, data. with a career spanning late 60s psychedelic folk-rock in eclection, through to chart success as a member of 70s pop group, sailor, before embracing the synthesised sound of early 80s new wave and synth pop via the excellent data, georg kajunas music has covered a lot of ground.

hailing from sunny los angeles, plastic love records kicks off our first release with an ep from label co-boss jimmy maheras. maheras made his debut in 2011 with his space jam ep on the crosstown rebels edit sub-label, rebellion. since then he s released remixes and singles on strainjjur, riff raff, supernature, and left d. maheras s two original tracks showcase his depth with the man from another place being squarely aimed at the big room dance floor and the second track, arecibo, bringing a little kraftwerkesque funk. we ve commissioned timothy j fairplay (crimes of the future) and cottam (aus music / ruff draft) for two very unique remixes. fairplay crunches down the original melody and throws it over the famed amen break to give tmfap a hands in air late night feel while cottam s remix brings the dreamy melody closer to acid with storming late night kick ready to knock down a wall.

label maker alberto sabatini drops a stellar spring grenade in the form of roboto (we are) on save the black beauty. having featured such renowned artists as fnm and sasse, it was time for sabatini to step into the spotlight with his own production. the introduction was made with his remix for sasses flushing meadows which showed his roots firmly to the italo & early proto house territory. now with roboto, sabatini takes an italo vibe and mixes it with contemporary house elements and creates a joyful, yet sinister late night belter. on the remix tip italian meister fabrizio mammarella who dips the original in disco sprinkles and lets the sun in

4th and final part of this legendary morris audio compilation series bringing some new (origins sound, manooz) and old faces (volta cab, julien sandre), but keeping the house vibe in different shades. up and coming origins sound (glasgow underground, lost) present a bassy pumping uk house tune whereas volta cab (kolour, hypercolour) goes back the the rave days and invites us to some hardcore heaven. the flipside starts with morris audio buddy julien sandre, who is still some kind of secret underground weapon, even if he already released on argys these days label or on tsuba. finishing off the ep is manooz (alive, extended play) with a great deep and raw house tune. this all is for you, seven daze a week!

ultrastretch has returned for its second 12 inch of 2014, and its two tangled, tripping sides come from markos spanoudakis, aka kreon. a greek producer with a degree in electrical engineering and an early musical education in the form of his fathers epic record collection, kreon knows his way around mindbending, late-night grooves. he is charmed on labels like robsoul, cécille numbers and robsoul.

after the very successful foray into split eps, luv shack records continues to explore this concept with luv013. the ep sees upcoming duo space echo make a return after their smash hit -soul power-, while the b-side is conducted by wahlberliner rotciv. -come back home-, the opening track by space echo, is a slowly building but effortlessly captivating piece of hypnotic house music with a raw funk attitude. the gently evolving synth line and the strong vocal hook are the spine of this anthemic track. the seemingly laid back -hangover- just oozes b-movie sleaze and might be space echos little hommage to 60 s lounge music, with an array of distorted guitars and soft pads coming to good use. that is until the synth theme kicks in mid-track and turns the piece into a late night weapon.
